The Centre opens three days per week [Monday, Wednesday, Friday] for customers with business hours from 11:00 am until around 2:00pm depending on our activities, providing support, companionship, meals, entertainment and both mental and physical stimulation for both at the Centre and outreach services.  On Tuesday mornings we also open for “Millstream Mugs”, with Maggie – refreshments, conversation, and a ‘warm’ room, all are welcome, 10:30am – 12pm

 

We also offer an outreach service ‘Millstream@Home’.  This is a follow on from our large Hub support operation during the pandemic. The Centre supplies hot meals 3 days a week for those unable to attend. We also offer help with prescriptions, essential shopping and where possible other key tasks that people in the area need temporary assistance with. Our phone line is monitored throughout the week to pick up your requests.

 

Should there be other crisis’s in the future we stand ready to expand the service to our community.

Our History

 

Benson Millstream Centre was established in the 1980’s taking over part of a larger building which included sheltered accommodation owned by our local authority and subsequently the South Oxfordshire Housing Association, our present landlord.  The setting up of our Charity was a great collaborative and fundraising effort by the community and included two significant donations of founders’ capital.  

What we do

Benson Millstream Centre is a hub of activity – our purpose is bringing seniors together, maintaining independence, enjoying companionship, lovely meals and having fun with the many activities that take place. We have so much going on, from creative work to health and well-being and everything in between. It has a real buzz and fun and enjoyment are a way of life for our Customers.

For those that can’t join us we offer at home services including a hot meal delivery and help with everyday essentials from shopping to prescription collection.

Hot Meals

Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we provide a healthy two-course home-cooked meal, and outreach /delivery services for those unable to attend the centre.

We offer help with essential shopping and local prescription collection.

 

 

 

Fun Activities

Providing activities is an important part of what we do at the Centre and has proven health benefits for our customers.

 

“Millstream Mugs”

Millstream Mugs is our community coffee morning, held every Tuesday from 10:30am – 12pm. It’s a very relaxed drop-in club, which welcomes everyone for coffee and a friendly chat. Run by Maggie Black (on the right in the picture), the club is a great way to socialise and meet local people.

Our Facilities

At the Benson Millstream Centre, we have an amazing array of facilities to help support our customers and the community. From lovely bright rooms, to a professional kitchen. We have in recent years had a full extension and it has been beautifully renovated.  In the Summer our Customers can also make great use of the lovely patio and garden area. We take great pride in our Centre and have the ability to share this wonderful facility –  with options  to book out rooms for those special occasions/memorials/parties or club nights.
